Vid of the Day

Milli Vanilli was a pop/dance music project formed by Frank Farian in Germany in 1988, fronted by Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus. The group’s debut album achieved high sales internationally which earned them a Grammy Award for Best New Artist Feb. 21, 1990. The act became one of the most popular pop acts in the late 1980s and early 1990s. However, their success turned to infamy when their Grammy was revoked after it was revealed that the lead vocals on the record were not the actual voices of Morvan and Pilatus. In 1998, ten years after Milli Vanilli’s initial debut, Pilatus was found dead in a Frankfurt hotel of an apparent drug overdose.

I can be a freak. I can be a freak. I can be a freak. FREAK. Our Vid of the Day, is Estelle’s “Freak” produced by David Guetta. The song features an interpolation of Soul II Soul’s “Back To Life” holla. The video is darker than we had initially suspected and doesn’t highlight the fashion choices enough, but it’s coo’.

En Vogue had sold over 90 million albums and singles worldwide. They had won more MTV Video Music Awards than any other female group in MTV history, a total of seven, along with three Soul Train Awards, two American Music Awards, and seven Grammy nominations. According to Billboard Magazine they were the 18th most successful act of the 1990s, and one of the most popular and successful female groups of all time. En Vogue has spent over 2,800 weeks on various Billboard charts.

Everything was fine until member Dawn Robinson ruined everything with her diva antics and left the group.

We love Lily Allen’s “Not Fair” video but we also love Dolly Parton so maybe that’s why. Looks like Lily drew a little inspiration from the past, no?

MGMT is a Grammy nominated American musical duo based in Brooklyn, New York, consisting of Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden. Formed at Wesleyan University and originally with Cantora records, they signed with Columbia Records/Red Ink/Sony in 2006.

MGMT was nominated for the 2010 Grammy Award for Best New Artist, and their track “Kids” was nominated for Best Pop Performance By a Duo or Group with Vocals.

Anyway, they are beyond crazy so we love them.
