Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week was in full swing this season in New York. For some reason or another, everyone headed over to the tents in Bryant Park. We were lucky enough to have been in the tents this past Wednesday to experience some of the fashion madness that swept the city. It was amazing to say the least.

The tents were jam packed with all sorts of fabulous people and photographers. You already know we were LOVING the open bar as well. The drinks were fabulous and of course we were double fisting with champagne and flirtinis all night. They did an incredible job this year with all the sponsor booths set up throughout the tents like Maybelline, AOL, and a booth set up for Haiti. Some of the celebrities we saw roaming through the tents were Jessica Biel, Nicole Richie, and Julia Stiles. In between mingling, getting our photograph taken, and going through an absolutely bizarre interview with Starbucks, we attended the Brian Reyes show and the Alexandre Herchcovitch show.

Alexandre Herchcovitch’s collection was FLAWLESS. Lots of soviet-inspired colors, plaids, and the most dominant theme: metallics. Each look was topped with a handkerchief wrapped around each model’s head which further accented the folksy, European vibe that ran through the whole collection. It will be no surprise when these looks are spotted on the red carpet this season.
Brian Reyes was the final show of the night and found us sitting across the runway from Jessica Stroup of 90210 fame. His collection took on more of a neutral, gray pallet with lots of crop tops, full-length skirts, and pant suits. While it wasn’t an absolute favorite, it was definitely a good try and a success. His runway was also one of the longest we’ve seen in Fashion Week history.
It was a glamorous and extremely fashion forward evening. Fashion Week is such a fabulous time in New York City and the shows this season completely brought it to another level. We can’t wait for next season.

Scenestirz Internz on the Scene…Fashion Week Fall 2010

This Is Just Pathetic

We almost want to take back how hard we were on Agyness Deyn a few days ago being that she fell on her arse on the runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week but at least she was walking in 5 inch heels. These bitches were wearing KITTEN HEELS and nearly broke their necks walking in them. Mathilde Frachon celebrated her 20th birthday by falling on the runway and she was not alone. Not one, not two, not three, but FOUR models fell at the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2010/11 show. A woman that can’t strut in heels is like a man that can’t get it up. How tragic.

Scenestirz on the Scene…The House of Paul

The Scenestirz trekked to 39th St and 6th Ave in the middle of the blizzard because we just had to see Cole & Garrett’s, The House of Paul: Bum Voyage Fall Collection. The House of Paul is a guerilla fashion show taking place twice a year in the street at Bryant Park and was co-created by Garrett Bowser in 2003. The models are members of the warehouse fashion week crew so all sizes! The clothes are made from the remnants of fashion week, Astroturf zip ties, gaffer tape, all kinds of crazy stuff. It was a ton of fun and we definitely saw some things we didn’t imagine seeing at fashion week.

Wayyy Gayyy

At Calvin Klein headquarters today, Ryan Phillippe, Kellan Lutz, Jared Leto, Michael Brooks and Chace Crawford, viewed the premiere of Calvin Klein Men’s Collection by Italo Zucchelli. Is it really necessary to have all these dudes in the front row like that? It’s also ridiculously amusing that they’re all clearly wearing Calvin Klein suits which is most likely a PR stunt that they realized once they got their seating assignments. You can tell that they hate that they were all placed next to each other just by their facial expressions. Too funny. That’s what you get for being a young hot celebrity.

What the Hell Is Agyness Doing

I really think this crazy bitch is trying to get fired. The once stunning blonde and now dreadful brunette model Agyness Deyn has been casted for a ton of shows this Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week but she’s not doing a very good job. First of all, she fell during Naomi Campbell’s runway show for Haiti Relief, not once but twice in the Burberry platform heels she was wearing. Falling on the runway and stopping the entire show is a HUGE no-no.

According to The Cut, she now was apparently working for Carolina Herrera and at the end of the show the models lined up with straight faces but Agyness decided she was going to smile at someone she knew. Are you kidding me? In fashion, if you f*ck up a bunch of times no one will hire you. That’s just the way it goes. Has she never watched Project Runway?!? As Heidi would say, “one day you’re in, and the next you’re out. Auf Wiedersehen Agyness.

Asian Models Are Hard to Find

Project Runway contestant Daniel Vosovic launched his first collection this week which we were extremely excited for being that he is one of our favs. The collection was mainly earth-tones and marine-like prints in silks and jersey. One problem he had was finding Asian models which he wanted for all fifteen of his looks.

I remember when I had to cast models it was an extremely difficult process. For some reason most agencies have a ton of Caucasian women, and they are now starting to sign more African American women and Asian women, I’m assuming as the popularity for them increases. Even if you find a girl that you like, sometimes they are booked for the day you need them or are out of the country. Either way, the clothes looked amazing and we look forward to seeing more from Daniel in the near future.

Asian Models Are Hard to Find

The Scenestirz have the opportunity to cover Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week this season, so we’re gonna. Yesterday was the first day at the tents at Bryant Park and it was a phenomenal way to kick off the week. The fashionistas of NYC were dressed to the nines of course and we enjoyed sipping on our Chombard flirtinis before heading into the Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection show. This is a show we follow every year; it is a star-studded event to raise awareness for heart disease.

This year Wendy Williams, Kimora Lee Simmons, Kim Kardashian, Felicity Huffman, amongst many others walked down the runway. We have to say, Joan Collins stole the show. Her dress had a chiffon cape on the back that she was waving to and fro. It was simply magical.

The Future of Fashion

With fashion week rapidly approaching what can we expect to see in the Fall 2010 collections? With pretty much everyone “inspired”, and we use that word loosely, by Lady Gaga these days it wouldn’t surprise us to see space age, galactic, modern, unusual fashion.

This glowing LED dress was made with 24,000 full-color LEDs. Of course the ‘Galaxy Dress’ was created by two London-based fashion designers, Francesca Rosella and Ryan Genz. It will be the centerpiece exhibition at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.

The LED dress was created by hand embroidering extra-thin, flexible layers of LED circuits on silk. The LED dress is designed to be illuminated using many miniscule iPod batteries that are hidden in the dress’s crinoline. The LED dress will stay lit for 30 minutes to an hour. Aside from the 24,000 LEDs the dress is also decorated with over 4000 Swarovski crystals.
